I've been like a kid on Christmas Eve for weeks now, and it came yesterday! My darling wife decided I needed a spectacular present for my most recent large, ends-in-zero birthday.
I think I may turn a pen as my first project.

You will love it!! It's my go to tool.
I do try to turn a little on my other lathes just so they don't forget me.

Definitely need to turn something much larger than pen to break that beauty in. Looking for future pictures.

Congratulations Roger; you'll love it. I've had mine since early August and it's a dandy.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures.
It's obvious you have a special bride!

Made some shavings after getting it settled in, just roughed out a hickory bowl. Boy this thing has power, I can take a hyuuge cut. Having everything rock solid and not slipping is a real treat-- I've done a dance with my toolrest for a long time now-- how much more can I do before I have to stop and tighten it. This one id just absolutely rock solid. It's going to take a while to train my brain to the new switches.

That looks much better - The AB in its natural habitat: shavings. Enjoy.
