Anyone understand DC motors?

I have a 1900RPM 450W 90V dc motor I wanted to use on a 2" belt sander build. It was a pitching machine with 2 motors but only one motherboard. My first thought was a router controller would work but it doesn't. I don't know if it's because this motor may be brush-less or if it's because the router controller varies the voltage, but the router controller doesn't spin it right. Anyone know?

Hi, there are many types of DC motors.

As a guess I would assume that you would have a permanent magnet motor.

You will need a DC motor controller that produces variable DC voltage (can be pulse width modulated) to control the motor. You should be able to find one on the internet.

A photo of the motor nameplate would be helpful.

A router controller is AC output, don't use it on the motor............Rod.

We have a corded B & D lawn mower that uses a 90 volt DC motor. It appears to use a tiny black box - about 1/2" X 2" X 2" to convert AC to 90 volt DC.
