I made music boxes for Christmas gifts for the LOML and daughter. The boxes are made with curly Maple sides and Walnut lids and bases. Finish is spray lacquer. Flocking was added to the "keepsake" section of the larger box and on the base of the small box. The large box has a mirror for the underside of the lid (not installed yet).

I messed up when installing the hinges on the larger box so I cut some filler strips to cover the holes. That didn't work too well - luckily, LOML is patient with my "wood butchery". The large box is from the Rockler plan more or less.

Merry Christmas!

Good-looking boxes, Dave. I like the figure in the maple, especially in the bigger box. Thanks for posting the pics.

Very nice. I especially like the foot detail on the larger one.

Very nice. I got some 4/4 curley maple maybe I need to resaw some and make a quicky extra present for LOML. But I'll need to go out and buy some walnut to go with it...:D
