Are Wm. Butcher backsaws common?

They are not frequently found for sale. They made good stuff and it is collected. I'm sure there are some around , but I'm
guessing they are not superior to good saws made now. Butcher chisels turn up even in yard sales.

What is uncommon is finding old saws in usable or restorable condition. Many times the saw plate is rusted beyond use or has made the plate brittle causing the teeth to pop off when setting.

I have collected and used, Butcher items for years. I find the steel to be excellent, sharpening is easy, and overall "hand feel" is very good.
I have one Butcher back saw, steel back, 11 tpi, filed rip. Split nuts. 12" blade.
