jet bench top spindle sander JBOS-5
1/4", 1/2" and 5/8" having problems with installing sleeves on 1/4", 1/2" and 5/8" shafts (steel Shafts not rubber) has anyone else had this problem? they slide on about 1/2 to 3/4's of the way and won't go on any further and now I can't even remove them. ( issue with larger rubber ones)

This question is only about the steel shafts 1/4", 1/2" and 5/8"

Thank you
Bruce

I've been thinking about getting this sander.
Sounds like the metal spindles were not machined to the correct diameter.

Lube them?

Jett does not recommend lubing the shaft. they recommended taking the sleeve off and running sander while using 400 grit paper on it while motor is running. I did this and sleeves do go on easier now so I will see after doing some sanding

I keep a small container of talcum powder next to my OSS. A small puff of talcum inside the sleeves helps the stubborn ones slide on and off. YMMV
