Putting together two sides of a night stand. I have a leg that is 1" thick. I was planning on using the 5mm x 30mm setting on my domino and mating against this 1" thickness. Leaves @ 1/8 or 3/16" on either side of the width. Not sure if this leaves enough meat on either side of the joint. I would use the smallest width setting on both mortises.

Thanks.
Brian

Your post read like your going across the grain instead of long way with the grain.
Sometimes when I’m questioning a jointery fit I will make up some pieces from scraps to test.
Its good practice too.

Good Luck

It will be like a face frame joint. Just the cross horizontal piece is only 3/4 " thick by 1" wide. This is the piece going between the inset drawers and at the top of the piece where it meets the top. I'm ok with the 5mm in the 3/4" material, but the width of the tenon on the 1" wide stock has me questioning the joint.

Thanks.

Ok I see what you mean. I don’t know what the rules are for that.
I do remember a few instances when I had glue coming out of the pores of the wood. I asked myself I wonder if the domino is too close to the edge.
Seems like one of times who ever is in charge should make that call.:)
Good Luck

If it's only 1/8" I'd say that's probably cutting it too close. If it's 3/16" that probably would work. (This is assuming I'm understanding what you're doing, but I'm not sure I do.) Maybe experiment on some scrap and see if you think it's strong enough.

Use the Dominos tight setting roll the domino in a little glue, so you got glue on whole domino, you should be alright

I see zero issue with that tenon size in the photo, Brian. Go for it!

Ditto. I would be OK with that.

Just to confirm . . . after seeing the photo I agree that it's OK. I guess I just wasn't quite sure of the actual use.
