I have a 14-2 w/ground direct burial cable that got cut. What is the best way to repair it? It goes to an outside light.

You might need two of them, and another piece of wire if your wire was chewed up (like from a trencher) when it was cut.

I ended up runing a new cable. I repaired the cut by splicing in a new piece when mine was cut, but still had a break. I figured the wire was pulled apart somewhere away from the cut. Good luck with yours.

Sometimes you can use the bad wire for a puller for a new wire. Tom's splice kit if not though.

The repair will be easy-peasy since the cut is where the cable exits the ground, caused by an over eager pair of loppers operated by you know who! (Not me)

Maybe a good time to figure out how to get some protective conduit over it too.

Yes. My thought as well. Something lopper proof.

Yep, I always use a pvc schedule 80 sweep. Lately I have been doing the entire run in schedule 80 PVC. Even my RG11 cable from the pole for TV and internet.

This almost sounds like you may have strung schedule 80 PVC on the line from the pole, i.e. PVC up in the air?

Now I'm thinking about expanding this repair to do it right. If I were to install a PVC sweep to protect the cable above ground, it seems a box should be part of the mix to allow for a potential junction to a second light. My question is, are there rules about how high off the ground the junction box needs to be?

This is likely different in the various states or jurisdictions.

My guess would be above the annual high water or snow level.
