This dining table was a late wedding gift for my oldest son and his wife. They bought a house this summer, and finally had a place to put it.

The top is solid ash. The legs and apron are solid Rockport maple. It’s ~ 40” x 60” wide, and extends to ~ 80” x 40” when extended. The design was a request from my DIL, that I copied from a file pic she sent. The ash is stained with Rustoleum Kona oil stain. The clear coat is four coats of Varathane oil base poly. The apron and legs are painted satin white with Krylon Colormaxx spray paint.

The edge profile took 2 different router bits to create. The sliders are steel. The legs are removable, and were repurposed from another table. I didn’t build any chairs for it, but they plan to paint some up to match the legs and apron.

Nice table! I like the way the top sweeps out over the legs.

That really turned out nice, Scott. It looks right at home in it's new surroundings. I'm sure they will cherish the gift.

Very nicely done Sir! Did you spray or brush the Varathane?

Thanks for the feedback all.

Ken - I actually tried hand wiping the first two coats, and didn't like the way the edges were coming out. Then I brushed a coat, then sprayed the last coat. I'm an equal opportunity finisher! ;-)

Nice table and I really like the contrast in the grain. Ash is nice to work. I wonder about the use of can spray paint durability. Any other experience? I am envious of the inside radii since I can rarely get 2 of them to look alike much less smooth and fair.
