Lee Valley nutcracker/bowl

I have just purchased Lee Valley's nutcracker mechanism and I am hoping to make a nutcracker bowl for my Mom for Christmas. It looks pretty straight forward, but I am a novice woodturner and would appreciate any advice from anyone having previously made one.
I would like to attach an image, but I can only find it in their catalogue, not online.
