Are said to be made in USA, but my knife has .china on one of the blades.
How can this be?

Buck makes certain knives in the U.S., but many models are now from China. The Folding Hunter is still U.S. made. I wager their knives are all still decent, but any domestic knife is going to be more valuable to the collector.

I am happy with my knife. It is sharp and holds a good edge.

Buck are made in both the US and China. I have several from each, with little difference in edge holding abilities. Many of the old pocket knife brands are owned by Smokey Mountain Knife Works, with the same company also selling brands they do not own(Case, Benchmade, to name two). They do an excellent job of identifying country of origin.

With that said, I have ordered numerous times from this company, and have been pleased.

It seems from my experience that the larger knives, 110, 112, 119, etc are still made in America whereas all the small folding pocket knives are made in China. I’m guessing it takes more work for less money on the small knives and more profit, less time on a bigger knife. Buck is very good about advertising USA knives. Look for the giant flag on the package. Case is my favorite for multiple blade folding pocket knives.

My Buck knife says "USA" on the blade. I don't like it much, though. It just does not seem to take a good edge. My Kershaw knife, on the other hand, is a treat.

Most are still made in the USA. Here are some I modified from wood from my farm.

You can buy them made in the USA and made in China, often the same type, but it will have a different model. Consider a stockman, which I expect to have a Sheepsfoot, a Spey, and a Clip blade.

The following four stockman style knives all have wood handles so they are essentially the same:

The 303 is a 3 1/4" made in the USA knife. (Medium)
https://www.amazon.com/Buck-Knives-Cadet-Folding-Pocket/dp/B00AU6AZ6I/ $43.

The 301 is a 3 7/8" made in the USA knife. (Large)
https://www.amazon.com/Buck-Knives-Stockman-Three-Folding/dp/B00AU6AZUO/ $45

Now, how about from China?

Don't get a 301, get a 371BRS for $27.21
https://www.amazon.com/Buck-Knives-0371BRS-Stockman-Woodgrain/dp/B000EHYZNC/

Don't get the 303, get the 373BRS for $19.99
https://www.amazon.com/Buck-Knives-0373BRS-Folding-Pocket/dp/B000EHV1AM/

My Chinese made Buck knives are all excellent. I have all four versions above, but the handles may differ. On eBay, I found some 371 versions with G10 handles (rubberized handles) for $15 delivered. They are actually very nice.

G10 is fiberglass and resin. Definitely not rubberized.

This is my old made in the USA 110 bought in 1973. A friend has one of the Wicked Edge knife sharpening systems and honed it for me. Hasn’t seen much use since.
