I managed to get 4 hours shop time today (self imposed maximum shop time per day for an old man). Finished turning the outside of the segmented bowl and half of the inside:<p align="center">

Also worked on the Tambour Clock I started yesterday. All that is lacking is an oil/wax finish and whalla!! -- have a mantel clock:

Not bad Pops.

Four hours of shop time would be great. Can't imagine forcing myself to leave due to time in the shop.

Ken,

Nice clock! I've been wanting to try one of those for myself. Even bought a nice piece of mahogany with some grain that will lend itself to the project. Yours has inspired me to get with it and do it.

Thanks,

Very nice pieces.

Jane is especially impressed with the bowl. She said she can't imagine how anyone could do something so complicated.

Ken- You're an inspiration - I really am enjoying the in progress pictures. The bowl is looking fantastic - any idea how much time you have into it so far? did the planning take a lot of time - or did you basically just do it as you go kind of a deal?

It's gonna be a beaut when you finish it. Speaking of that - is the sanding going to be a problem - with the dark woods next to the light woods? Did you say you were going to do an article on the process?

Thanks again - Oh yeah I like the clock too.

Now Ken, that's my kind of clock.......handless! You can just make it any time you want it to be, such as, Bud time! Both projects look great and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished pieces.

Tom:
1. I have no idea how many hours I have in the bowl. The reason being I never work on any one single project at a time. I usually have at least 2 projects and sometimes more going on at one time, swapping between projects while waiting for glue drying, oil finishing, etc.

2. There wasn't a lot of planning involved - just deciding how large I wanted it to be, establishing that size ring for the top and progressively making smaller and smaller rings to the point where I reach the desired height.

3. Sanding was not a problem- the outside has already been sanded to 600 grit in the picture.

4. YES - I do plan on doing an article on the process using this bowl as the example of how to make a segmented bowl.

Now Ken, that's my kind of clock.......handless!

:D Bob -- The bezel/face was only layed on it while the clock was placed on it's back for the pic. I will install the mechanism and hands :)after oiling and waxing.

It just totally amazes me what you turners can do with a block of wood. Ken, the bowl looks as if it is coming along nicely. And the clocks are just one more project of my attempt list. I only hope they will turn out as well as yours have. Great job Ken.

Great work as usual Ken. One of these days I may have to go from Flat to round. But, then my stuff would look so puny next to yours it'd be discouraging. Keep up the good work. I like to see what you young fellows do to keep busy. Carl
