I have a Shark Guard for my Powermatic 66. No complaints. Unfortunately, when I moved, I lost the smallest splitter that came with the guard. Figured I would make a new splitter. I'm talking about a very low splitter for things like plywood.

I notice the other Shark Guard splitters are .105" thick, for a 1/8" blade. Is there a recommended width for splitters? I have steel roughly this thick. I can sand a few thousandths off if needed.

I'm thinking I'll make my splitter about 1/2" high.

Thickness should be greater than plate of blade but less than kerf. Dave

The steel I had lying around was about 0.110" in thickness. I just made a splitter, and I'm going to see if it kills me or anything. I would be surprised if five thousandths of extra thickness caused a problem.

I would too. I think you'll be fine.

Had more than customer get after theirs with a belt sander, if you need it thinner than OEM.

Like Eric said. Belt sander worked fine for me.
