Next year when July comes around I want to go where the humidity is low and the temp is under 90. Is there anywhere within a 1000 miles of Arkansas I can take about a three month vacation from this heat and humidity ? I have been looking out Colorado way, thinking it might be cooler. I have been planning on spending the winter months in south Texas and now the high humidity months somewhere dry so now I am getting serious about a Travel Trailer. Its time to retire again anyway.

Bobby,
Kay & I had a Hi-Lo Trailer for about 8 years. We enjoyed it very much - very easy to tow.
We have friends in Butte, MT and we have been at their place a number of times (4/5), warm days light jacket nights; low humidity; elevation about 5000 feet.
Then again we have friends in Eagle River Alaska and have been there once. Nice weather in the summer but watch out for the dreaded mosquito ( the national bird of Alaska)- Kay and I swear.
Best of luck in your quest - and if you're in "Western" (Howdy) Pennsylvania - you're welcome here at the "ranch" "estate" "acreage" "lot". Oh well!
Daniel

Bobby,
Do you like the ocean? It's pretty nice along the New England coast. Come on up and test it out. Get's warm in the daytime...80's...but nice and cool along the ocean...60's.

I spent 20 years in and around Viriginia...aways reminded me of taking a suction on the tailpipe of a Greyhound in July/Aug.

Hey Bobby,

I'm living up here in northern Colorado. It's Great, live right at the foothills. Any time it gets too hot, about an hours drive and your in the mountains well about the 5,000 mark where it is nice and cool. Just last weekend I was at 11,000 feet fishing on a patch of snow watching the meltoff feed the lake I was fishing on. Man that was great. Buena Vista area is very beautiful. Ohh, and we don't even know what humidity is here in Colorado. Almost never happens.
:D

Aw, Glenn, you're being optimistic for the last couple of weeks. ;-)

I'm about 5 miles inland, and it's been sweltering. Course, if I could head over to the beach, it'd probably be a different story.

Summertime here on Whidbey Island, Washington in the Puget Sound is real nice a light western breeze low humidity at least I think its low of course I'm comparing it to Georgia a world of difference.

We were up into the low 90's but that is rare mostly high 60's to the low 80's. real enjoyable weather. We do get some liquid sunshine but then again if you don't like the weather wait 15 minutes.

Bobby, how are you going to get that nice big lathe on a travel trailer? Save your money and buy a bigger air conditioner for your shop.

Randy thats raising my vacation fever about ten points, it sounds like the place to be in the summer. I may have to find a few days to come up to look things over when I finish these jobs.

Daniel, you know that those Alaskan mosquitos are the rejects we ship over there that don't meet the size requirments here in eastern Arkansas.

It's that ocean breeze. I live on Aquidneck Island so it's 10-15 degrees cooler than just a few miles inland if there's a breeze off the water...until it warms up in August.

Grew up in North Reading, MA btw.

How about British Columbia...impressive territory and LOTS of trees! (and mountains...)

Bobby,

In the summer you can't beat upstate New York, right on Lake Ontario. Absolutely beautiful weather and the nicest people you will find anywhere. I worked a construction job there for two years in the mid 80's. The down side is that winter is brutal with an average snowfall of 326 inches and after November it never gets up to zero untill late May. In July when the temperature gets up to 75 degrees everyone stays home, they think it's too hot to go outside :)

Hi Bobby!

I live in Idaho, and there could be some places here that would fit the bill. We have a cabin in the mountains, about a half an hour away from West Yellowstone Montana. We're a block from one lake, and ten minutes from another. If you'd like to try it out sometime, stop on by!

I never understood why people talked about humidity until I was in Kentucky in the Army. Just about killed this poor kid from the high desert! :p

Scott- I was waiting for someone to mention that!! We've had an extremely wet and cool spring. Within the last week or so it's jumped to low 90's with humidity to match .

Were you at Ft Knox $$$ or Ft Campbell?

Bobby- I don't have to tell you anything about humidity- I think it was invented in the Miss River Valley. Our church goes to Greenville, MS every year to do vacation bible schools and construction (next week actually!). The humidity and the fire ants are two things ya'll can keep!! :D

Glen,

Yeah, I know what you mean. Last summer I was living on Cape Ann, and you could always feel the temps drop as you got onto it. Aquidneck is nice - I used to vist Raytheon down there on business (probably your former kind of business - defense software development).

Hi Mark!

I was at Fort Knox for basic. A beautiful area! But I've never sweated so much in my life! That is a while back now. :)

Scott.

Thanks for all your suggestions and info, I guess getting old keeps me from enjoying all this humidity anymore, I should finish jobs in a few days and shut down till cooler weather comes. I think a road trip is in order, LOML is already retired and getting cabin fever in this heat and no activity.
I grew up here in Arkansas, lived in Virginia, Maine, Newfoundland, Germany, Mojava CA, Clovis NM, and even liked some of the places, and should have stayed there.

Bobby, I'm a little more that 1000 miles away but I think I got just what you looking for. It's 70 degrees here in Eagle River Alaska, don't know what the humidity is but I ain't sweating. Come on up and sit a spell.

PS We don't let no mosquitoes bother us.

Well, out here on the Left Coast, you can have pretty much whatever you want. I live in the central valley of California, in the foothills of the Sierras. 9 months of the year it is absolutely fantabulous (?).

The other 3 months it's hot, but the humidty stays low so it's not too bad. Now you can live many other places in the west where it doesn't get so hot, but I'm native here so I guess I'll stay.

Sure glad we don't have that eastern humidity (gloat).
