Exterior wood finish ??

Please provide recommendations for a exterior finish over a stained red grandis wood (mahoghany family) that I plan to use for a countertop for an outside cook station. The countertop will be covered most of the time.

Never seen red grandis wood. If it's anything like other mahogany wood I would recommend starting with a grain filler. This will make the surface smooth so it would be easier to achieve a glass like finish. Then for a finish use Epifanes spar varnish for a finish.
