Not much posting of photos going on so I'll take up the slack:D . This piece is white oak and lepordwood with a definate southwestern style. It is 7" diameter x 5-3/4" tall and contains 226 pieces with spray lacquer finish. Thanks for looking and, as always, your comments are invaluable.

Very nice, Keith!! SW style is my favorite and this is a nice adaptation of that style.

That is beautiful!! I want to try one of those sometime. No clue how to start. Equipment needed and such. Maybe you guys that do these could post pictures of the blanks before turning to give guys like me an idea of how to do it. Thanks for the picture. Love seeing that stuff.

Wow again Keith! My parents collect Southwestern art...being the true blue Texans that they are. My mom would go nuts over that. What a marvelous shape...I especially like the diameter of the foot in relation to the rest of it.

Keith - Have you tried assembling any form with more than 16 sides? What kind of sled did you make to cut the segments?

Hank, I have done 8,12, 15 and 16 sides. Some day I'll do more? I use a Delta Sliding Table that I modified with an Incra Miter Gage, photo attached. This setup works well for me.

Keith, another show piece. Leopardwood is one I favor, it can present some interesting designs at times.
Aside from all of the other comments, the only one I have is, are you ever going to make anything that doesn't leek??? :D .

Keith, I have a newbie question: Do you clean up the segments individually before trying to turn it. Or do you just chuck it on the lathe and turn from scratch after glueing. Seems like chip-out would occur pretty easily if just chucked after glueing, but I'm a newbie.

Keith,

Very pretty. Nice form and I love the way you used 2 different woods in this one to give it a "flavor". Very nice indeed. :D
