That is great work and your should be very proud of it.

I took a class for Stuart Mortimer (from England) last summer and he does this type of work by hand with onyl a rasp and some sanding supplies. He also makes some bueatuful Spiral turned vases and I adopetd his sprial work to make some of my Christmas tree bulbs that I have posted here. You can check out some of his work at http://www.stuartmortimer.com/ I would recommend that if he ever comes to your area try to attend his classes.

Thanks Ron I will look him up ,I have to turn a 8 inch by 72 " roped eight sided newel this week and well I still havnt quiet got the gear ratios down.I was hoping maybe someone out here in cyber land might be better at it then me.Ill post the math the company suplied maybe some one can see something I missed.

Nice work Robert. I wish I could help, but you might find the formulas from a metal worker shop.
