This is the 2nd piece I've turned out of the Walnut I got from the hurricane. I crawled under a pile of limbs to drag a big crotch out from the bottom. Got a few more like this waiting to be finished!:D This one's going back to the nice family that let me have it this weekend. I almost hate to give it up:o . Had to hurry up and engrave their names on the bottom before I changed my mind! I hope the wife doesn't cry when she sees it........the guy that helped them cut it and move to the road took a good bit for............................FIREWOOD!!!!!!!!!!! !
12" diameter by 2.5" deep.

Travis, that is truly eye candy if ever I saw any! Wow! Superb execution on the form and you've truly given that piece of Walnut a second life. I'm sure the family will love it and, I'll bet if you go back a year from now, it will still be displayed prominently in their home! Great job.:)

Wonderful shape and wood. What type of finish did you use?

Travis Stinson
12-16-2005, 7:16 PM
Ron, the finish is Watco natural wet sanded at 600 grit, then buffed with the Beall wheels.
