Link: http://www.sidewinderreels.com/our-cord-reels/sidewinder-reel-sw-i/I purchased from Brookstone (Chapter 11, Bankruptcy, August 2018) in the 1980s a Sidewinder Reel (now called the SW-I (pictured above) which is larger than the newer model SW-II) and loved it. It was sturdy and it kept my 100' extension cord tamed. I lost it in a divorce, and for the last fifteen years I've been trying to find something like it and figured it was another quality product lost to the ever-competitive foreign markets the provide less than top-notch quality. Nobody seemed to have this sturdy built reel.

Then, yesterday, I stumbled upon this company - Sidewinder Reel Products at http://www.sidewinderreels.com/ by searching Google using photos. It was like finding an old friend.

I spoke with Troy Hinkle of Sidewinder Reel Products who indicated their smaller product SW-II is currently available at Amazon. Troy writes the he is a principle and that the company is family owned; they are the third owner. They expect to offer the SW-I on Amazon come October, 2019.

For those of you that like to have their power cords neatly tucked out of the way and easily transportable, I highly recommend this product. My recommendation is based upon what I bought in the 1980s, I have yet to purchase new ones as they are not quite ready for sale through Amazon at this time. But being a family run company in the United States, I'm hopeful that what I buy will be just like the one I purchased in the 1980s. If there were offered on Amazon by some ABC company of foreign origin, I'd be very cautious.

Let's just hope that Sidewinder's strategy to sell through Amazon doesn't come back to haunt them. Further see https://www.coredna.com/blogs/how-to-compete-with-amazon and https://mywifequitherjob.com/the-dangers-of-selling-on-amazon/
