Hello all
I just spent some money upgrading my router table setup..
I got the incra mast lift 2 with magnalock. (jessem made) and the AUK spindle router (porter cable style).
The potential issue i'm having is the incra magna lock inserts have a small amount of play, maybe 1mm each way..
I don't see this been a problem until I go to use the incra magnalock guide bushing insert.. If the guide bushing is slightly moving about this will totally destroy precision stuff like dovetails etc..
Precision being a main reason for my upgrade..
Does anyone else use in a incra magnalock setup.. is there play in the plate / insert?

Thanks

There is zero play in my maglock inserts in the Router plate. 1mm????

(edit): I just double checked all my inserts. I confirm there is no play.

Yeah it's a pain... I'll see if I can get a small video of it.
Thanks

Mine don't move. But then I've never sued with a bushing in the table. I do all my bushing work with a free-hand router.

A few months ago I added the same lift to my table setup & the inserts have zero play. I keep a small all to pop the inserts out.

Thinking about my setup, I can't conceive where/how you are getting the play.

Hi guys.
Here is a quick video of the movement.

No movement in mine. If you bought it from Incra online, call their tech support. They will help. Most likely, there is a problem with either the lift or the inserts and one or the other should be replaced. There should be no movement at all. I had to check mine though because I have never used a template bushing on the table; only bearing guided bits.

What Randy said. Something is wrong here. At that price-point you want it right.

If you bought direct from Incra (or even if you didn't) please call them. They are always very helpful, provide answers, and, if it involves a sub-standard part or accessory, they will replace. If you bought from a third party, you may need to go directly back to where you bought it first, though.

Thanks all :)
I bought it here in the UK, They are the main uk dealer for incra.
Had a look at the insert plate with guide bushing earlier and that's also pretty bad quality :(
Not flat and the stop for the guide bush is welded on all squint so attached guide bushing would always be at a slight angle :(
Quick vid....

Yep, replacement or return; that beast is defective. If you see another one at the seller and it has the same problem I would move on to something else. That one, as shown, is never going to be right.

None of those issues with mine at all.

Spoken to the shop owner, he is happy to replace, refund etc.
On a uk forum another woodworker got the same incra lift last week from the same shop, he confirms he has play on his inserts also.. so no real point trying another incra one.
I think I'll swap the incra mastr lift for Jessem mastr lift.
I have a CNC router so actually quite like the idea of modding the red phenolic jessem inserts into cleansweep style ones with dust extraction, also from what I can see they lock in place so absolutely no movement.

Thanks

I don't know for sure but I believe the Incra lift is made by Jessem. At least they used to look alike.

Yes it is made by jessem, just different insert designs. :)
