I got a call last night from a local tree guy saying that he is cutting down a golden locust tree this morning and wanted to know the best time for me to be there and direct the cutting of the burled trunk. I offered to pay the home owner for the tree but didn't think it would be cut before the end of the year. Now I will have to spend funds I need to cover other things before leaving on vacation Friday. Not enough time to sell some of the wood to recover the cost. I am so frazzled I almost backed out of the deal but wood lust overcame that idea.

Wondering why I am always broke in Longview, WA.

Been there. Short term pain, long term gain. Not fun, but it will get better.

Good, you would have regretted that decision if you had not gone for it.

I'd say Tough but maybe I could help you out by buying a few pieces of that wood or another wood you may have. :D

VACATION I always thought that you spun around so fast that you didn't know if you were coming or going & wouldn't know if you were on vacation or not.:D

Neat tree! I see a nervous face and arms raised in surrender.

More importantly, I see some great looking turning stock.

Whatever it takes, take it.

Hey Bart, go to my home page and find the link to the woodnheart blog. There is some silktree and pear listed for sale.

How is the mini lathe holding up? I am sure you are enjoying it.

My long bed holds too much wood in Longview, WA.

Here's the solution: send me your address and I will pay for the costs and you send half the tree to me...

We'll just call you "Mr. Helpful".....or maybe "Mr. I'll Take Half"!!:D

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me Dave!!

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me Dave!!

Especially if he can find three or four creekers to send him the cost and take half each!:D

Okay, if my ciphering is accurate, I'll sign up for the fifth half.

I'd jump in for small pieces that you could cut pen blanks from. By Andy's cipering someone should start paying us to take it.
