So I bought an old belt disk sander

I paid $50 for a working and running 6x48 belt and 12" disk. Enclosed cabinet and it runs.
I plan on repainting it and trying to replace a noisy bearing or 2.
I've never reworked an older machine before and I'm interested in finding a few replacement parts to replace a couple that are broken.
I'm cleaning it up now and trying to find what kind it is. I know it's a lot like a Powermatic M30 belt disk sander but I'm not finding a Powermatic name on it.
Any tips or pointers....I'd sure appreciate it. As soon as I find a name/model....I'll post it.

Oh, I did find out that it came out of the old Kimball piano factory. :)

First of all, pictures will help a lot.

Second, parts and help with old American machinery can be had at OWWM, as you likely know.

Third, I bought a bandsaw from the old Kimball factory, from their time in Indiana in my case.

Nice machine and a great price! Sure looks like a PM. Some form of a Model 30, which could be a Model 300, 30A, 30B, etc.

I think this is labeled wrong as a 35, since I believe the 35 is disc only, but it sure looks like yours.

Dennis I jealous, I've been looking for one of these Delta's for several years.
Sounds like you got a great deal, and a good machine to rebuild.
I remember using one of these in wood shop 50 years ago.
They are nice machines, and well built.

Congratulations Dennis on a nice score. After searching our local Craigslist for several years, I quite looking for woodworking tools to rebuild as few locally are worth rebuilding or they are too significantly proud of them for them to be worth repairing. Thus, I buy new.

Ok, I'm stuck. :)
The belt sander part is in the vertical position and I can't seem to find a way to move it to the horizontal position. I've twisted and poked at every screw/bolt on the machine. What am I missing?

I have that quill completely removed. I have stripped the machine of all except the base and the belt sanding assembly. Disk and guard have been remove as well as the drive pulley on the shaft for the disk/belt drive. No matter what I do, I am not able to push or pull the belt assembly to horizontal position.

Based on the condition, I’d bet there’s some corrosion in there at least. Disassemble everything you can and spray the pivot with PB Blaster and see if that helps.

I haven’t work on that machine so can’t offer much more than that, but post over on OWWM and surely there will be people who can help you.
