Lazy Susan Edge Banding....

Thought it would be EASY !!! , to find a replacement Edge Banding for the Lazy Susan in the Kitchen. NOPE!! Not one store sells that stuff...

So, any suggestions on edge banding my Lazy Susan ? The old banding, was nailed on. Only thing I was able to find, was PSA iron on edge banding that is 1/16 inch thick. The old banding was much thicker. Can the PSA banding be layered up , with each layer hit with the hair dryer; to get the psa glue to set ?

Bending your own should be easy. Don't know how thick the original is, but just soaking thin stock in near boiling water will soften it enough to take a pretty severe bend. Make your replacement slightly over length, put painters tape on the top you are banding, bend it around and hold it with a clamp overnight. Next day trim to length and glue it on. Choose a straight-grained piece of stock.

if you have any bending plywood around, it would work great for that and it could be doubled up if needed. It comes 3/8" typically

Bending plywood would be great, but if you have to buy a whole sheet of the stuff, it gets expensive.

How 'bout buying a smaller sheet of aluminum at the big box. Cut into 2" wide strips, or whatever height you like. Bend it around the lazy susan, and fasten it in place with small nails. You may need to use several strips of the aluminum to get all the way around the disc. The curve in each strip will make it stronger.

It's still iron-on, but might be worth a try - not a lot of money if it doesn't work out.

I'm seeing the banding as taller than the shelf, so it prevents stuff from falling off the back of the shelf when it is whirling around. That is, if the shelf is 3/4" tall, the banding would be 1 1/2" or 2" tall.
