The foot rest was made using plans from The Craftsman magazine and is a Stickley design. It will go with my living room professor chair. I chose the design after looking at many finished pieces and designs.

It is made of white oak that has been lightly fumed and topped with amber shellac. I had it upholstered with a heavy chenille fabric and brass nails.

What is not visible are curved long rails that have been obscured by ample padding. It gives the top of the cushion its slightly concave shape, almost flat in appearance. I like the look and can attest to its comfort :)

That's very attractive! Is the design readily available?

+1. I'd like to make one.

The plans were in this book:

I recall that all the issues are online but don't have the link. The designs came from a series of articles called 'Home training in cabinet work" that ran for a few years starting in 1905.

I'm seriously looking at the octagonal tabouret next.

It's a wonderful book. I've made several of the pieces in there. Well worth the money

Howard,
You said it was a Craftsman. I don't see Sears on it at all.

A lot of nice work on your part, the project came out looking great!
