I can't find any white Rub'n Buf, does anyone know if this is really discontinued? Any other tips for this newbie you can offer as a replacement for Rub'n Buff on wood plaques?

Bonnie,

It seems to be available several places on-line. All three of these also have brick-and-mortar stores, so it might also be available there, if they are in your neighborhood.

Thanks Gary, all 3 sites indicate out of stock for white. Anything you can use as a replacement.

There's one vendor on amazon with a 12-color set that includes the white. Search for the 12 color sampler set.

Hi Bonnie,

Sorry - I didn't read the sites carefully enough. It does look the product may have been discontinued, but here are a few sites that claim to have stock remaining.

As for a substitute, you might look at DecoArt's Metallic Lustre. They have a "White Frost" shade:

Hope this helps.

Note that DecoArt’s product is water-based, which is different from Rub’n’buff. It does work well but goes on a little differently. Practice on scrap first.

Appreciate that very much. Will try the water based product. Was really looking for an alternative product.

Thank you all. Will try the water based product, was also trying to find an alternative so will give that a go. Just weird I thought to discontinue white...

Keith,

I came across this thread and your offer to the OP because I had the same question as her. Since Bonnie ultimately ordered online, I wonder if you still have your antique white rub & buff and, if so, whether you might be willing to extend a similar offer to me. Please let me know either way! :) Thanks

Alisha

Alisha,

I would be glad to but it was shipped to someone else months ago.
Sorry

FINALLY found something that works just like rub n buff antique white. Can hardly tell the difference even the consistency is about the same!!!! I am so excited....It rubs off the same way and has the same effect!!!! Have gone through so many products trying to find a good replacement.
