Someone PMed me about holding large pieces on my Sjoberg bench. SMC's Private Messaging doesn't provide for sending images. This post is to show the images.
Of course the end vise is removed from the end of the bench.
A spacer block was made with 2X3 construction lumber to make a spacer from the legs to fill the same space as the top extends past the legs. Holes were drilled in the legs and the spacer:

The dowels were glued into the spacer to hold it in place:

Finally a pair of clams is used to hold the work piece in place:

The clamp on the left is holding on to one of the legs. The clamp on the right is holding on to a part of the underside of the bench.
