That was interesting Osvaldo. Thank you for posting it! I found myself wondering what some of those complex joints were used for. But knowing the Japanese woodworking tradition, there is probably an excellent reason for each one of them. I have tried one or two of their joints and found the precision required to be quite challenging. One day, I'll set myself to learn more.

They tend to be used in straight-grained softwoods for carpentry, which makes them a bit less tricky, but nonetheless highly dependant on accurate layout, and being nearsighted. :^)
