Anybody want to venture a guess on the maker of this massive 1" corner chisel? Next question: how do I put an edge on this thing?

The bevel needs to be on the inside.

My first step would be to see if it is hardened by running a file over one of the inside edges.

for some reason it looks unhardened to me.

A carver or specialty woodworker would disagree with the bevel comment. Both inside and outside bevels are found. Depends upon use.

A corner chisel is beveled on the inside. This does look more like a corner chisel than a V-parting tool, which would be beveled on the outside. Carving tools are usually not a socket mount and are lighter than chisels.

it is as found...haven't had the time to sharpen it ...yet, other than remove the rust.

OP was asking about the bevels on one of these....OP can then sharpen the chisel he has to suit....

So....a flat bevel? or, a Convex bevel.....or hollow grind the bevels...that be a question for yet another sharpening thread.
