I am making some theater props and need to paint a few things Hunter green. I have good luck spraying Zinsser BIN and Enduro Clear Poly. I have successfully tinted Clear Poly as a toner - even black.

The question is, what should I use as the colorant? Does anyone have a recipe for Hunter Green using Transtint, etc.?

Circling back to this.
I tinted the primer with transtint blue and green. From a white base getting anything darker than minty green is impossible.

But I found out that my 2 stage hvlp sprays latex pretty well. I was able to use the exact color I needed in latex, thinned about 10-15pct with floetrol.

I tried before doing this with my Fuji semipro 2 stage but had horrible luck. The new 3m pps cup system I am using with the Fuji however is very good. Even with my 1.3mm tip.

The cup system is really great for spraying any orientation and runs dry gracefully; the flow gets weaker at the end but never sputters as it did with the original cup. Oh yeah, and the disposable cup is great.

Glad you are liking the 3M PPS cup system, Prashun. I had no doubt you would.

I just tinted some BIN pigmented shellac primer gray with black Cal-Tint UTC. Just as you related, you can't get it anything more than gray, but I knew that would be the case and was happy with what it gave me. The moral of the story is if you want paint, buy paint.
