I'm shopping for a one-inch belt sander. I have looked in the SMC archives without much luck. I am aware of the Delta models, which are belt and disc sander combinations. Lee Valley has a 1" belt sander (without motor). I don't really need the disc sander part.
My question is, what options are available for a small strip sander/grinder like this? Any recommendations?

I have the Delta with disk sander. I really didn't need the disk since I had another disk sander but it is usefull sometimes to have the disk right there. No regrets.

Do you want a bench machine or a hand-held power tool? If the latter, Makita has one.

Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I saw the Kalamazoo and the Makita, but after examining the Delta SA-180 I was satisfied as to its quality and pulled the trigger.

I don't suppose I should set it up on the workbench directly over cans of paint thinner, should I?
