What Wood Species

I have been asked to build a small end table to match an existing couch. I only have these pictures of the couch frame. Can anyone identify the wood?

Walnut. Especially if the piece is mid-century modern (aka Danish Modern).

Looks like some kind of African mahogany to me. Possibly genuine mahogany.

A usual request, "I'd like it to match" and that will test the best of conservators. The wood could be one of possibly a half dozen species and the appearance as it is was probably achieved with tinted lacquer. Industry uses this method because it looks appealing to customers and it's fast.
