that has a toolbox with six vise grip wrenches.
Down through the years, if I needed one and could not find it, I would go buy one.
It is embarressing.

You are possibly the only one that has six... The norm is many more than that! :)

When I was working in a machine shop, one of the machinist cursed Vise Grips . He was Swedish, I reminded him a Swedish blacksmith in the States had invented them. I don't remember the answer.

In the hands of the uneducated they can do a lot of damage.

The inventor was William S. Petersen who lived in DeWitt, Nebraska. My dad was a steel salesman and frequently met with Petersen and sold steel to him.

I don't have six in one tool box (well I don't think I do), but if I were to count all the vise-grips in all boxes and drawers, and walls . . . .

Just don't bring up hammers or screwdrivers. That gets over a dozen in a single drawer(s) really quick. And not counting other boxes or drawers or walls.

At least six for me, though they're many styles! The needle nosed are some of the most useful.

Welcome to the "No thirteenth" fun.

When I can't find an often used tool, shop cleaning is due.
Same applies for having a "path" through the shop.

If I'm forced to leave a room, to turn a board around - cleanup time follows.

For me, it's hammers.

Seven, although not all in one toolbox, unless you count the clamps, in which case it gets up to ten.

Back when I was young and had clapped-out cars and other machines but limited tools, I could not have survived without Vise Grips. It's been an interesting irony that my acquisition of tooling and the newness of my mechanical possessions have moved together. Now that I have enough tools to carry out extensive repairs, I'm much less likely to need to make extensive repairs, and my actual use of Vise Grips these days is probably about 1% of what it was 30 and 40 years ago.
