While waiting for some glue to dry I had a gennou handle get loose and need replacing. I remembered an article Stu had written so went for it with some hickory. Tools used: bow saw, spoke shave, sandpaper.

Apparently spokeshaves have two handles for a reason, the bandage on a left hand finger says so.

This handle is such an improvement it’s not even funny.

No wedge used just a tight fit and a sledgehammer! The wide handle end is perfect for pounding.

Go for the curve, wide handle end and tight fit for the head.

Nice! I like the flow of the grain. My gennou handles made with guidance from an article by Stan C. are perhaps my favorite tools because they were an epiphany compared to a regular handle and can't be replaced with the click of a mouse. (Thanks Stan--hope you come back to SMC for at least a visit!)

Best,
Chris
