There’s usually a good reason when something has been in practice for centuries, but it occurred to ask.
Besides the cutting advantage, it occurred that a skew in the appropriate direction might encourage the tool into the corner of, say, a sliding dovetail?
So...
Why not skewed teeth on a float?

The answer might be more of economics than of usefulness.
Of course if they made a skewed left model, there would be a perceived need for a skewed right model.
Would there be enough demand for a manufacturer to produce such a line?

Can you characterize the difference you’ve felt between skewed and straight? I wonder why not skewed face float?
Thanks for responding, I hadn’t ever seen those although I’ve looked at the philly site
