Adding a photo

I'd like to put my picture with may name when I post. I think it's the "avatar" function under profiles. My picture is on my desktop under "my Pictures". I guess I'm not too PC literate.

Joe...you're right it's under your user CP. Select "Custom avatar" and bear in mind what it says near the bottom. The largest the photo can be that you upload is 50 x 50 pixels or 19.5kb.

How do you reduce the size of a picture so it is 50*50 pixels and 19.5 Kb I saved under the lowest resolution JPEG and it is still too large?

I am still having trouble putting pictures on the web site since all of mine are too large. I have used the IrfanView program to try to get them smaller but they just seem to lose resolution. I may need someone to walk me through a size reduction in jpeg files so I can add more pictures later.
