I bought a variety pack of pen turning blanks from Woodcraft. One wood is called redheart. I cannot find much about redheart on the net. What kind of tree does it come from? What part of the world? Just very curious. I found information about the other species included, not much about redheart.
Thanks
John

John, here is a link to some information. I use it in both segmented work and for pens. It makes beautiful pens that polish up like glass. Sometimes you can find some redheart with streaks of purple in it. Nice wood but the dust can stain your clothes. DAMHIKT!

thanks Michael, that site has the information I needed. I just started turning pens and will give them for Christmas gifts. I want to include a card with facts about the particular species. Thanks for the help.
