Crescent Connect Clamps

Has any one had problems with the pads on the Crescent connect clamps deteriorating. I have 4 of these clamps and all of them have had their pads just fall apart and break off.

Unfortunately none of those clamps will withstand the test of time. The answer for us is always to forget any form of pad straight out of the gate and adjust our workflow. There is no clamp on earth that sees remotely heavy use with a slip on pad that will last. We run a bunch of the old HD F clamps from jorgensen that use to come with the plastic pads. We just throw them away out of the box. Protect your work with cauls or scraps. The pad slip and cause more problems than they are worth.

Those Cresent clamps have more useless gimmicks than any clamp I’ve see. A solution looking for a problem.

You could try using packing tape to attach a piece of hardboard. I did that with my Jet clamps and they held up for a while.
