My sister just bought the low end portable planer at Menards. I can't recall the brand. I think she paid about $289. Seems to work quite nice...except....

I know what snipe is. I get it on my Delta and my Dewalt planers. It's that slight depression about 3" from the end of the board.

She's getting a very small hump, about 3" from the front of her boards! All the way across the board.

I've never seen such a thing. Any ideas on the cause of that?

Well, a nice thing is that your reverse snipe can be cleaned off with a hand plane. The usual snipe can't be cleaned up that easily.

Could the infeed table be angled up just slightly? I could see the board being held down until enough board was in to flatten it. Just a thought.

Sounds like when the wood gets to the last feed roller (approximately 3" after the cutter) it is lifting the roller and the cutter head causing a bump. I agree to check the infeed for height and parallel.
