Wonder if this would be able to mount a Dremel and chase inlay patterns in thin stock....

lol - I started down this path for my kids, who I encourage STEM based activities anytime I can. But all too often it gets 'Dad' more excited than the kids.

It might work if you write the software (and the precision at the end of the arm is acceptable).

Edit: forgot to mention: Your post makes me want to get one. I've had a plastic robot arm for decades, with a couple of joysticks to control the motors. The kids LOVE playing with it. Based on that, I think a simple program to control the arm remotely would be a big hit. Programming on an Arduino or such would be pretty easy.
