Today I got my set of old molding planes, only to have three arrive damaged. The number #4 bead plane took the worse of it, losing about an inch of its profile edge. So a few questions.
Should I redefine this profile using the #4 cove or ?

The other question is in regards to a few old molding planes that I acquired for near pennies. A thin insert with in the profile is broken, and the missing pieces have broken cleanly down to the bottom of the kerfs. I see no sign of glue? How should I repair these, for daily users? My buying them was more for the iron.
Thanks Bayard
