A blast from the past (early 2004): my first real "woodworking project", as opposed to bookshelves and general carpentry stuff. In retrospect, a set of plans would have been nice. Rosewood mostly, the stripe was cocobolo and purpleheart or maybe something else: not a conscious design decision, just a way to make that $85 piece of rosewood wide enough. (As it is, it came within a couple inches of peing too short.)
