Can anyone tell me anything about a DeWalt 790 Radial arm saw? I know it is a 12" and that is about all I know. Found one in a auction about 3 hours from me and wanted to know a bit more before I drove over.

The 7790 was one of the "2nd generation" Dewalts, not the "humpback". It still had the column adjusting crank on the column instead of the front of the arm or under the table. This layout was considered less problematic than having the crank on the front of the arm (as my 7740).
I grew up with the Dewalt RAS and I think the 790 was what my uncle had. I also think this is what they had in our high school's Industrial Arts shop in the late 70's (when they still allowed students to actually touch tools) If so it had a 3 or 3.5 hp motor and you could set it to run either 120 or 220 volts.
The manual can be found here:

Although not as massive as the humpbacks, it is a a very solid machine and keeps its settings well.

Join the dewalt radial arm forum at http://people.delphiforums.com/snotzalot/sawdust/ and you will probably learn all you will ever want to know about your saw. From what I have read about the 7790 there, you have a really good saw and this site will let you know how to treat it right.
