What bar soap do you use?

Have noticed a lot of premium brand bar soap available in stores. All costing around $4.00 a bar.
I use Harry's brand razors and notice they are now into bar soap.

What brand bar soap do you use?

I like Kirk's natural bar soap, Dial and Safeguard.

Does anyone make a larger size bar of soap? The bars keep getting smaller and smaller.

When I was working, I traveled a lot and took the soap (and shampoo) home from the hotel. I never bought any soap. When people would ask me how much I traveled I used to tell them, "Well, I don't buy any soap."

I still travel some but not enough to keep me from buying soap - but I don't buy much.

In the winter when my skin dries out and I get lots of itching, I use a coca butter soap from Dollar General, 2 for a buck last I checked. The rest of the year, Ivory. Been using it since I was a tyke at home. A few times a year, Like when I have been in poison ivy, etc, Fels Naptha. If I will be near a marsh or lots of insects, Packer's Pine Tar soap (Don't know how it works, and it only works slightly, to attract fewer bugs).

Dial for Men is in the soap tray of my shower. I recently moved to buying it online, not because it's necessarily more cost effective to buy it in bulk (shipping costs kind of kill any related savings) but because I've been having a hard time finding it in the stores that I usually shop at. I shave with a mug and brush and have been using Caswell-Massey soaps since my Navy days--Greenbriar for like the past 10 years. For the shop sink I like to keep a bar of Lava available next to a squeeze bottle of Natural Orange Pumice GoJo.

Ivory, bar and liquid. I have a mild allergy to perfumes, my nose clogs, throat itches, and get headaches.
I do keep a bar of lava by the laundry room sink for extreme dirt, but I follow that up with Ivory.

Body wash and a loofah. Try it - much quicker shower and the loofah really gets dirt and grime off.

Bar soap is Ivory. Hs been for most of my life. I get the ten packs of Ivory soap. For some reason they're larger bars????
I don't use shaving cream, or gels. Hot water and razor only.

Irish Spring from Costco. Previously used Palmolive from 99 cent store, but the Irish lasts longer.

PS: My wife read that chunks of Irish Spring put near storage in the garage keeps mice away because of the fragrance.

I don't think so, I tried it and within a week they had eaten it.

I get the antibacterial soap from the super value store where we shop.

I use Ivory soap in the shower to wash with and while in there shave my face and head with it. Lubricates the razor well and if an area drys a touch before I get to it a quick rub with some water lubes it up again. The only downside to it is it leaves more soap scum on the shower than other bar soaps. My problem as I'm the one that does the cleaning. ;) It comes in two sizes. The bigger bath size and a smaller hand size. SWMBO prefers liquid soap at the sink because it is neater. I take a bar with me when visiting or travelling and use a brush at the sink to conserve their water.

Duluth Trading - Duke Cannon Big Adz Brick of Soap - Accomplishment. Yeah, it's $9/bar, but I can use an exacto knife to get that one bar into 4 normal sized bars of soap - so it lasts me a good 3 months. Plus it doesn't mess with my allergies at all.

I strictly use body wash. Bar soap used to irritate my skin, not sure why but probably led to me always thinking I can never get the soap off my skin, takes me long to rinse off than to scrub up.

second the Dukes, I get my college boys a combo box each Christmas, and they tend to run out about the time the new box shows up.

For those of you who have skin/itch challenges, especially in the winter, don't shower too much and when you do, only use the soap/detergent where you really need it. They all can have a drying effect and the body is pretty good at taking care of things in the non-sweaty areas. I keep trying to get my daughters to understand this, but...well...you know...that's an up-hill battle!

I have no trouble with dry skin. I use Ivory and have longer than I can remember. The older I get the less impact that statement has :D. Let's say I've used it for many decades.

Extreme dry skin, I like Dove. At times I put just water on lower legs ,then olive oil. Home made strigel to remove it.

I used Irish Spring for years before I turned "sensitive". Now I use Dove for sensitive skin, even take it with me when I travel.

My impression of Ivory was greasy feel to skin after shower. I use Coast, Irish Springs or Zest. I like to mix 'em up every time I need a new bar.

I've used most of them, Ivory when youg (99 44/100% pure) and Dove. Started using Axe when I got a position in Unilever stock. Got out of that stock, still use the soap.

I mostly Irish Spring. I do have hands like baseball gloves. I use a lot of mineral spirits and grit pump soap. In the winter I go through a lot of hemp cream or bag balm to keep my hands happy

Hand made goat milk soap. My wife has made our soap for about 30 years now. No allergies and no dry skin. Four ingredients and all of them have names that anyone can understand. Cheers

Irish Spring for the last 25 years. Can't get used to the various liquids that the rest of the family uses.

Kirks Castile coco soap is the only bar soap that doesn’t seem tacky when it washes off. I also have a bottle of Jack Black’s body wash but it is so ridiculously expensive I only use it at certain times. It smells great.

“Well, I don’t buy any soap” is pretty funny. I know a couple of guys who brag about having elite status with airlines and hotels with air of superiority. I bet you are more fun to be around.

I use whichever deodorant soap is on sale. I've always thought that body wash / shower gels were a wasteful marketing ploy to sell more product since you need to use so much. But I read an article in Family Handyman (I think) that says that since liquid soaps are made entirely from synthetics, they don't create the scum/residues on shower walls and floors that most bar soaps do. Hence more and more hotels, gyms, schools, etc., are switching to them for ease of housekeeping.

Coast for bar soap. All other soaps leave some sort of a film which I despise. The Coast soap washes off very easy and thoughtfully. Not much of a fragrance which is good.

I have elite status with two airlines and two hotels, but don't brag about it. I would rather be home than spending so much time on the road. Even now, I'm sitting in a hotel in Sioux Fall, SD waiting for my next flight to Denver so I can fly back to Virginia for another week.

When I'm traveling on short trips, I bring my own body wash. For longer trips, I buy locally and toss what I don't use at the end of the trip unless I have checked baggage. Most of the time I use a back pack for everything. I don't care for bar soap.

My wife makes soap as a hobby. We use her castoffs so I get all sorts of weird smelling stuff. She gives away the good stuff.

Lol. About 60 years ago when I had my first knee surgery, the doctor gave me a bar of Dail and said wash with this for a few days before surgery. When the nurse was prepping me on the day of surgery she washed down my leg with no other than Dial bar soap. I've been using Dial soap ever since. Just the original no special scents.

My exwife loved to make soap and for about 20 years I dont think we ever purchased soap, shampoo, dish detergent, etc.. This suited me just fine because for some odd reason certain soaps, perfumes, or something will give me an allergic skin issue like hives mainly on my back. From that point forward I have never used commercial soaps. Now new sister inlaw is into soap making thankfully.

One thing I will never forget is that we lived on a septic system for many years and when we sold the property we had to have a state septic inspection which included digging up a leg of the leach field to inspect the gravel bed. Local septic companies would allow you to dig out your own septic tank lid and a couple corners of the leach if you wanted to save money on the inspection. When the company we used for tank pumping (state licensed inspectors) came out they thought we were scamming them. The gravel was nearly clean and looked like new gravel. They thought we had dug up the leach and poured new gravel in. They dug up a few more inspection holes and said they had never seen a leach field that way 30-40 years old so clean. After asking a bunch of questions and the home made soap came up they said that the wax and perfumes bath products were a major contributor to leach failure because they cant be broken down. Always stuck with me.

My son switched to body wash just for this reason. He got tired of cleaning the scum in his shower and tells me that there is little to clean now. He used to clean it weekly and now does it monthly and it still takes about half the time he used to spend once a week.

I may have to turn in my 'man card' but I use Oil of Olay. I find that it is much nicer and doesn't leave any kind of a film. I used to buy it at Costco, but they only carry Dove now so I get it at Wally World.

I'm 76 and the skin on my feet has a tendency to dry out and crack - I've been using unscented olive oil soap for a number of years. Only downside is that it will get slimy or melt if it sits in any water and not kept in soap container.
