I'm enjoying the search for "things that need new handles" and performing surgery. So, I thought I'd post a few more picts (below).

I've found varying screwdrivers (4-in-1, small 2-in-1, a 10-in-1, and others), saws (japanese pull saws, Stanley saws), and other tools that just scream to have their cheap handles replaced. Sadly, I've only gotten a few done so far.

Here are the few:

Purpleheart screwdriver (posted previously), with purpleheart Stanley saw.
Also, an unfigured maple saw and a jatoba screwdriver.

Evidently, there is one type of Stanley saw mechanism they use for the jab saw, flush cut pull saw, and others. It can hold hacksaw blades, reciprocating saw blades, etc.

More picts (but no better lighting or photography :-) here: all four (http://personal.intrusion.org/%7Ejoe/sawmill/DCP02290.JPG), two (http://personal.intrusion.org/%7Ejoe/sawmill/DCP02291.JPG), and two (http://personal.intrusion.org/%7Ejoe/sawmill/DCP02292.JPG).

Too shiny? Should I just oil the handles instead of a thick polyurethane?

Hey...It looks like they're coming along nicely Joe! I figured you were going to come up with some beauts. I'm on the fence about the finish. The Poly will probably hold up ok...but then again, maybe not.

I've been looking at different handles of quality tools and it seems that it is more of the deep penetrating oil variety where you have the wood feel to it.

Dunno... But yours are lookin' good!

Nice looking tools there Joe. John, I think that the poly should hold up, my dad uses a certain kind for hotplates, that can stand up to around 500 degrees F. Same on his wooden puzzles. You can see them at www.wolfhillwoodworking.com.
