A client asked me to build a ladder to get up to their apartment loft. They gave me a picture of what they wanted and I modified it just a bit. It's made from 6/4 Hickory and the treads are joined to the sides with sliding dovetails. The finish is Tung Oil and several coats of Lacquer. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, though, I wish I had charged double what I did

That’s a great looking ladder. You picked the right wood for climbing.

Hard to get Hickory round here, quite rare. The grain is lovely. The dovetails are a nice visual and structural touch.

Looks great! Using the pipe at the top to keep it in place was clever!

That's the most beautiful ladder I've ever seen. Hickory is very a very dense heavy wood, besides beautiful ladders it makes really nice plaques and laser engraves nice.

Oh yeah, the dovetail joints are a very nice touch Bryan.

Nice! I've built ladders from oak and hickory but nothing in the same class! Clever attachment too.

Very nice. Interesting loft area. Did the homeowner use it for storage?

That is beautiful and functional. I can see quite a bit of work went into it. I hope you charge more next time too.

Didn't think much about it when reading the title. That changed quickly. I love the hand-holds at each step. the dovetailing into the sides, the nice wide rungs, the way you finished the hickory, the attachment to the wall - great design and craftsmanship.

That thing is beautiful and functional. At rest it is a great decorative addition and sure to be a conversation piece.
