I just purchased a used Minimax FS-30 Smart 12" jointer/planer and am working on the electrical to use it. The previous owner did not have the manual. Do any of you SMCers have a manual or know where to get one (or a copy)? I did not have success with the manufacturer's website or eBay.

Thanks for your help!

I've always been able to get downloadable manuals from PartsPronto, the SCM/Minimax parts site.

If you cannot find it online I can scan mine

Jim, thank you. I checked the SCM spare parts site (not partspronto anymore) and didn't see anything similar to a "manuals" section. I applied to register to the site; maybe that will open up a documentation/manuals section. I'll post with results.

Bill, if it's not too much trouble to scan it, could you do that please? I don't know if the SCM spare parts site will end up having manuals or not. Waiting on registration approval. Thank you!

Jeremy,
A few manuals available online that might help until you get the right one.
- 2006 manual for the elite series: https://fs.online.tools.se/Data/V15/tekniskinfo_pdf/se/149080103_FSElite_GBIT.pdf
- old (1987?) manual for the FS35: https://www.routerforums.com/attachments/power-tool-manuals/43586d1303650422-suggest-new-company-mini-max-fs35.pdf
- FS30 manual in italian: http://www.legnofilia.com/documenti/FS30-41_CLASSIC_CE_ITA_00L0083933A.PDF

My impression is that there could have been some changes to the products over the years.

What is the issue on electrical? Are you trying to change the wiring, or work through an issue with the safety switches or motor?
Also, are you on the minimax yahoo group?

Matt, that helps...bits and pieces of the right information. Thank you. I'll keep working on getting the correct one. There have definitely been changes over the years; mine has an end mount fence and I think the Smart line is somewhat different from the Elite line, though I'm not sure what the differences are.

The electrical isn't an issue, per se, I just need to run the new circuit. I searched the archives and found a wealth of information (and opinions) on 20A vs 30A, etc. My machine's nameplate says it pulls 13A so no need to go to a 30A circuit. I'm not re-wiring anything in the machine, as it came from a US-based hobby shop so same application as mine.

Look for the Mini Max Owners Group on Yahoo. You'll have to have a Yahoo email address to become a member of the group. Once there, you can ask for the manual and I'm sure someone will have it. Good luck.

30A, assuming it’s a US-spec machine (60hz/1-phase motor)

I requested access to the Yahoo group. You guys have been most helpful. Thank you.

Erik, at the risk of starting an electrical discussion, I'm curious why you would recommend 30A for a machine with a nameplate current draw of 13A. MM-USA recommended 20A. For disclosure, I'm a nights/weekends guy in my basement running one machine at a time (and the dust collector which will be on a separate circuit). My walls will be open; wiring accessible. I understand the arguments for running 10ga cable to permit larger machines in the future, but I'm not interested in that. 20A circuit should be fine for a 3HP machine (I checked nameplate amps for 3HP sawstop, laguna bandsaw, etc.). None would load the circuit >80%. Again, no disrespect and I don't want to get on a tangent, but I want to know if I'm missing something that would drive me to a 30A circuit.

Jeremy, how many Kw is the motor on your machine?

MiniMax and Sam Blasco both told me to use 30 amp circuit with my FS-30
