Box Elder Hollow Form

Here is a piece of box elder I got from Jim at the BBQ that really has some pretty nice figure and curl along with an inclusion. It is 7" x 6" and is just under 1/4" thick. Finished with Watco and buffed with all 3 wheels. I'm happy with this one. The top is Wenge.

Nice piece of wood. I feel if the base was smaller it would look "lighter" and less "clunky". Forms like this need an uplifting look to them, not squatty. They are just more eye pleasing that way.

Nice piece Dick. BTW, a tip given to me when I started doing collars and was concerned with wood movement was to place the collar so the grain ran parallel with the grain on the base. Looks like the DVR is serving you well!:D
