My adult daughter loves to spend time in her little cabin in the mountains. Big Bear, for those local. She stayed the weekend, and it snowed 5 inches. Monday morning she scraped the snow off the windshield and proceeded down the mountain.

She also likes to run the heater in the car, and open the sunroof for the nice view.

Yup. 5" of snow dropped all over her as she forgot, and opened it.

Sunroof open and heater on? Sorry Matt, I should have mentioned this is SoCal. Not that unusual to do that. The temp at the bottom of the hill was about 60 degrees. We live at the bottom of the hill and her cabin is at about 6500'.

It is also not uncommon to see cars in the valley with snow still on the roof, obviously just off the hill.

Sunroof open and heater on? Sorry Matt, I should have mentioned this is SoCal. Not that unusual to do that.I don't open up windows with the heater on that often, but it certainly could happen: last 5 cars have had auto climate control, and about the only time I touch the controls is when I need defroster. My neighbor gave me a ration once when we were in the Boxster with the top down and he noticed the A/C blasting full cold.

Those "sun roofs" can cause problems!

I won't tell the tale about how a guy and his wife went to visit a fellow Creeker in the far northern reaches of Minnesota. Staying in a historic lodge, they arrived back at their hotel in the dark after a late supper. The male driver accidentally pushed up on a button in the overhead while trying to find the on/of switch for the cabin light in this Honda Pilot. The next morning when they departed the area, he pulled into the first automatic car wash to wash off the road dust and dead bugs. With the cover on the sun roof pulled closed, he didn't note the rear of the sun roof window was tilted up and open. When the water started flowing out of the front of the cars overhead liner, he figured out the cause and remedied it very quickly! No, I won't tell about this incident. By the way after everything dried out, everything worked just fine. LOL!:o

Personally, I have never liked sunroofs. We have had a couple, as well as several convertibles over the years. Drop top on the convertible, and you can see everything, where a sun roof is usually too far back for viewing. The ones we have had are also more noisy, wind whistle and such.

We have had our '03 Mustang GT convertible since it was 6 months old. Only got 30K on it. Half of that was put on in two three week trips doing the complete Route 66 experience.
