In between house project stuff, I've been trying to find some time in between to fill the void in a somewhat weak Christmas budget :( this year. So, off to Wally World for some of those confetti lamps and turn the lathe on. Also managed to eek out a little round bowl, perfect for one of those spherical candles. Now, be nice to me, folks! You've got a cripple on this end and just one of these takes me a couple hours to do!!! (and everyone thought I was slow before! )

First pic, is the round candle thingie, out of "I dunno" wood! (Got it from Donnie Raines sometime last year!)
The second, is some Black Walnut, the third would be Redwood, the fourth is a Cherry Burl. Kinda' looks like a muffin, don't it?:D I've got a couple more to go, to be continued in next post. If you quit after this one, thanks for taking a peek!:)

Hay John,
Quite nice, they will all make wonderful gifts. I would think the folks that receive them will be very pleased. I really like the muffin one, bet that will look great when lit.
Can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Begging for mercy? Well forget it. Doesn't appear to me you need any. Very nice John.

Rob, it seems like Walmart is charging whatever the market will bear in the locale. The one I went to, had them by the craft supplies area and I believe I paid 50 or 60 cents a piece for them. These are NOT the refillable type, though. I've not found those anywhere but at the major turning supply outfits online. FWIW, if there's a Walgreens close to you, I also found them there for 99 cents each. I think I have enough of them now to make the lamp and pack an extra "refill" with each!:) Thanks...Yeah, the wife likes the "muffin" one, too!:D

I read part two before part one and asked a question that was already answered. Disregard please. These are really great looking lamps. I like that bowl one. All will make great gifts.

I like the muffin too John.....but then maybe I'm biased.;) But, as far as form or style goes....I have to pick pic#2 of part II. But still...they're all great!
My Wally World has the disposable lamps selling for $2.49. I don't get it. I'll go to Walgreens today and check them out.

Very nice John. I too am partial to the muffin shape, but the hour glass shape is beautiful too. I have started doing a few of these myself. Makes for great practice, without putting a large piece at risk of disaster. :D

Those are so neat! I love them all.

 Wally World for some of those confetti lamps:confused:

Please someone tell me more, where in the store do I get them and what is a part number or sku number so I get the right ones. I want to try some...

Thanks, Ed. From what I've been hearing, pricing on these little things is all over the place from one Walmart to the next. I found mine over by where they keep their craft supplies. Candles, other oil-burning lamps and such. I forget now exactly what I paid for them but, I'm pretty sure they were somewhere between 50 and 70 cents a piece or thereabouts. Way less than a buck, I know that.:)

I also want to say those look very nice.

Also ... I found those confetti-like lamps at the local Michaels craft store.
They're a wee bit fatter (and non-refillable) than the 1.5" dia, glass refillable ones.

I also have a question:
-- Are you turning them so the lamp gets inserted from beneath?

Thanks, Joe!:) Apparently, your craft stores do better than our do around here! I looked at three rather large suppliers, none of whom carries these or the refillable ones! Who'd a' thunk that Wally World would come through? (Thanks Dick!) :D (Not sure if you caught it, but I also found identical ones at Walgreen's.)

Anyhow, no these pop right in from the top. I usually make the hole just a tad on the light side to compensate for a bit of deviation from the manufacturer, just in case they get a bit wide, but not so loose that they're rattling around in the opening. Thanks again!:)

After I get my first chuck, I will have to see about making some of those. Very nice work John, I could almost eat that muffin lol.
