Hi all,

I am planning to purchase 100W laser to play with it and learn.

The machine in wuestion comes with WS-5000 chiller which has about of 1/2 chillong power of WS-5200

My shop is in Las Vegas and it is cooled by swamp coolers /2 coolers/. In the summer it is not unusual to have temps in the shop in high 80's.

The question is if SW-5000 will do the job or I need to upgrade it to SW-5200

thanks

P. S. Happy New year to all of you!

I don't have any experience with a 5000, but I do have a 5200 I use with my 80w Triumph... I used a 3000 'radiator' for 3 years before buying the 5200... My garage shop gets into the mid 80's in the summer, and regardless of ambient air temp or what I'm doing with the laser, once the cooler is acclimated, the water temp varies ONLY from 19.8 to 20.9, I've never seen it higher or lower. And it never runs continuously....

I’ve got a 5200 with my 100w tube. It cools the laser faster than it can heat up in my Houston garage.

Not it sure how much humidity a swamp cooler puts into the air but you may want to invest in a thermostat that shows the dew point. The tube needs to be kept below 22C and I have to be careful in the summer to keep the dew point below 18 or 19 with an AC and dehumidifier.

I've a 5000 and it does fine in my basement, but even summer Temps rarely hit 85 without my ac running. It has handled the 80watt machine fine. But if you are cutting at high power all day, get the 5200.

I have a 5000 on my 130 watt laser and it handles the heat very well. I think the 5200 is set up to feed 2 laser tubes

I will by dew point meter. Thermostat is not an potion since the thermostat is close to the door and it is at least 100 feet away from where the laser will be.

I have zero knowlege with heat exchange and cooling.

I was hoping that someone in similar desert climate can share experience on 5000 unit /Nevada or Arizona/.

The laser will come with 5000 chiller. I was thinking if it is not enough to not even open it and purchase separate 5200 unit and sell 5000 brand new, unopened in order to recover some of replacement cost.
