View Full Version : Hide End Grain Filler

I filled a small router imperfection with cherry Timber Mate in the end grain of cherry. I'd like to make the end grain pattern flow through the filler to hide it as much as possible. Any ideas on how to make an end grain pattern flow through the filler, while remaining smooth?

Buy artist oil paints and faux paint in the grain. It's only going to be a temporary fix since the cherry will change color with age and any color match now will soon be off. You would be better off to inlay a piece of cherry.

Get rid of the filler and repair using a piece of the cutoff.

I decided Andy's position is best; get rid of the filler. So I re-cut the profile and took maybe 1/64" off. No one will ever know, unless they read this thread. Thank you!

I sometimes scratch little grooves in the filler going the same way as the grain :-)
